CANARY ISLANDS and LANZAROTE
Tourist Information For The Fortunate Isles
Canary Islands
The Canary Islands and especially Lanzarote have much to offer.
If you want an active holiday, whether it be; scuba diving, surfing,
boat cruises, catamaran sailing, submarine tours, sight seeing,
playing golf or simply having a relaxing holiday, then look no further
you
have found the ideal location.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote is famous for some of the top dive sites in the Canary
Islands. The clear Atlantic waters in a tropical climate make diving
a pleasurable experience. You will see a variety of marine life,
from hundreds of species of fish, shipwrecks and underwater caves.
There is also an underwater conservation area where visibility is
up to 30 metres. There is an area close to Puerto Calero (accessed
by boat) called Punta Tinosa, which is a reef, formed from solidified
lava, and supports a wide variety of marine life. All dive centres
provide kit hire if you don’t want to bring your own, if you
are already qualified please remember to bring your certificates
with you. Or simply take advantage of the excellent tuition that
can be offered at a reasonable cost.
Puerto Calero
Staying at Puerto Calero has the added advantage of being so close
to all the activities as most of the boats; catamarans, submarine
tours and diving all leave from this wonderful marina.
If golf is your forte then there is currently a golf course located
in Costa Teguise. This 18-hole course is surrounded by giant cacti
and volcanic lava, which makes your days play all the more interesting
with the stunning scenery. Other courses are currently under construction,
one is very close to Puerto Calero and another is planned for the
south of the island at Playa Blanca.
